Who are we?
We are a team of solicitors who, for almost 20 years, have specialised in representing people who develop chronic pain following an accident.
We understand the crucial importance of early access to the best treatment and rehabilitation. We have arranged funding for many of our clients to undergo residential rehabilitation or, if necessary, more invasive treatments such as spinal (SCS) or dorsal root ganglion (DRG) stimulation. And for those whose pain has proved resistant to therapy, our expert solicitors are well-informed about the latest developments, including clinical trials.
However, we also understand the devasting financial impact that chronic pain has on you and your family. And worrying about keeping a roof over your head is a major distraction from focusing on your rehabilitation. That’s why we work hard to ensure that you receive regular interim payments from the other side as your claim progresses.
“You were with me every step of the way and proved repeatedly that you really know your onions! I can’t thank you enough.” DD
Meet the Team
Andrew Atkinson
Andrew Atkinson has specialised in personal injury litigation for almost 20 years and, unusually, has extensive knowledge and experience of the workings of a claim from both a Claimant and Defendant perspective. He joined BLB Solicitors due to his particular interest in compensation claims involving chronic pain, becoming Team Head in 2018. He particularly enjoys working closely with medical specialists to gain a thorough understanding of a client’s condition and the limitations it imposes upon them. Andrew says:
“Our primary aim here at BLB is to obtain the best possible treatment and rehabilitation for clients who have often had little if any medical intervention. Many of the best forms of treatment are either extremely difficult to source from the NHS or are very expensive in the private sector. An important part of my job is, therefore, seeking funding for treatment from the other party’s insurance company. That is where my past experience as a Defendant lawyer can prove invaluable.”
Bruce Dyer
Bruce Dyer has over 30 years of experience in personal injury litigation. He acts in a broad range of complex, high-value cases, taking a particular interest in chronic pain conditions, including Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), Neuropathic Pain, and Fibromyalgia (FM). He has also enjoyed particular success in claims involving Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). Such claims require a forensic eye for detail as well as a thorough knowledge of the medical issues involved, particularly regarding medical causation and treatment. Clients always praise Bruce’s approachability and his care and concern.
What he finds particularly satisfying is the opportunity to turn claims around when people have been let down, often badly, by their former solicitors. Bruce says:
“Anyone who has lost faith in their lawyer is bound to approach us with at least a degree of scepticism and we work hard to gain their trust and confidence. We really can make a substantial difference to a claim in terms of available treatment, financial value and quality of service.”
David Gazzard
Since qualifying over 30 years ago, David has specialised in personal injury litigation and medical negligence. Renowned for his attention to detail, he regularly secures life-changing amounts of compensation for his clients. These days, David’s primary focus is cases involving chronic pain that develop following medical negligence, and he is a highly sought-after solicitor. However, despite his popularity, his clients often comment that he has an uncanny ability to make them feel they are his only clients. David says:
“I continue to get immense satisfaction in achieving the best possible results for my clients. They often come to see me when they are at a low point in their lives, coping not just with the consequences of their injury or condition, but often unable to work and worried about paying their bills. By drawing on my experience, I can reassure them about the legal process and alleviate any worries they might have. At BLB Solicitors, we offer a very personal service to our clients, which, sadly, is lacking in many firms these days.”
Moving Solicitor
Are your current solicitors a specialist firm that understands chronic pain? If not, it’s a little like being treated by your GP when you really need to see a specialist. Using a non-specialist solicitor means there is a major risk of your claim being misunderstood and undervalued – and little chance of you receiving crucial treatment and rehabilitation.
Transferring your claim from your current solicitors to BLB Solicitors is straightforward and hassle-free. Indeed, we will deal with everything on your behalf, and you need have no further contact with your current solicitor. You are not obligated to stay with them and can switch anytime.
What should you do next?
Call us on 01225 462871. Speak informally to one of our specialist chronic pain solicitors. They will ask you about your claim and your current situation and discuss with you how we can help get your life and your claim back on track. The call is free, and there is no obligation to instruct us. Indeed, we believe you should have every confidence in us before you instruct us.
